Vivian Robinson Award
This award is presented in honour of Vivian Robinson, a valuable contributor to the Emergency Preparedness Programs in the Capital Region District. Vivian exemplified commitment to improving her community. She took on challenges that she was not sure she was capable of and succeeded. Vivian overcame her fears; became involved with ESS, Ground Search & Rescue, Personal Disaster Assistance, the Salvation Army and took on the role of Deputy ESS Director for Saanich. Through this, Vivian kept her family first; she was a loving mother, wife, a loyal friend and devoted to her church. We lost Vivian suddenly December 31st, 2004.
We invite all Vancouver Island and Islands Emergency Coordinators (with the help of their team directors), to nominate up to two volunteers from their community to be recognized with this award.
The nominee(s) should be an individual who continually challenges her/himself to go beyond her/his "comfort zone." This could include offering to speak publicly, taking on a new and challenging role in their volunteer team, a community preparedness initiative or taking on a role in that would physically or mentally challenge the individual. The nominee(s) should be a Public Safety Lifeline volunteer (SAR, Communications, Level 1 ESS response, NEPP, ESS, PEP Air, Road Rescue) or member of partner agency – St. John Ambulance, Canadian Red Cross or the Salvation Army and be actively involved for a minimum of two years; and have taken at least one course (i.e. Meeter/Greeter, First Aid, Family Reunification) with one of the following partner agencies:
• St. John Ambulance
• Canadian Red Cross
• The Salvation Army
The selected recipient for this award will receive admission to the 2011 VIEP Conference as well as accommodation as required. Thank you to Vancouver Island Emergency Preparedness Conference Society for providing this sponsorship.
