Nick will discuss the uses of technology used in Search and Rescue, what is available and what they offer SAR teams. This will include the use of drones, mapping software, cell phones/possibilities of portable cell phone towers, cell phone tracking devices, GPS tracking of field teams, and technologies to enhance VHF communications such as radio over internet protocol.

Nick Rivers is a Search and Rescue (SAR) Manager with Arrowsmith SAR. He is an instructor for Ground SAR and Ground Search Team Leader, Code 3 Driving, Electronic Search Specialist and Lost Person Behaviour. Also trained in Rope Rescue and Swiftwater Rescue.
